He died LOS ANGELES - James Mitchell, playing for nearly three decades, before Patriarch Palmer Cortlandt on the show ABC's "All My Children," his longtime partner, said Sunday night.
Mitchell died Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, said Albert Wolsky partner. Mitchell has been complicated by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease long history of suffering for the last episode of pneumonia.
Mitchell has appeared in over 300 episodes of popular series from 1979 to Episode 40 th anniversary this month. He is regularly on display until 2008.
Mitchell enjoyed the icy water, rich in Palmer, which exercises its authority over the children, and the problem fictional town Pine Valley.

Born in Sacramento in 1920 and trained as a dancer, Mitchell danced leading roles in the Broadway musical "Brigadoon" and "Paint Your Wagon," and on the stage with American Ballet Theater.
His filmography includes the 1953 "The Band Wagon" with Fred Astaire, 1954 "Deep In My Heart" and 1955 "Oklahoma."
Mitchell also taught the movement of actors from Yale University and Drake University, where he was an honorary doctorate.
